The picture I am using for "The Universal Man" was redrawn from the illustration entitled, "The Mystery of the Microcosm," from "Secret Teachings of All Ages," by Manly Hall. This originated from Cesariano's edition of "Vitruvius." To quote from Cesariano: "The Logos or soul of the world according to Plato, the Greek Hermes, and the Christ, according to the Christian Gnostics, are all one and the same as the Hebrew Adam Kadmon, who is the third person of the cabalistic triad." The Ideas of Paracelsus were presented in the internet page titled, "The Macrocosm-Microcosm, Relationship," by Alex Soojung, Kim Pang. The quotations were from Paracelsus', "Selected Writing," edited by Jolande Jacobi. (Bollingen Series, 28, New York, Partheon, 1951). To quote:
My visual idea of "The Universal Man" originated in the time of Plato and Pythagoras, from the drawing of Vitruvius, the concepts of "Microcosm" and the "Macrocosm, from the time of the Renaissance and the drawing by da Vinci. Mankind would not understand these concepts until the last hundred years. There has been a groundswell of desire in recent years to grasp the idea that all is Spirit and spiritual. To do this we need to throw out the old concept that matter and Mind can join together. When we do this we find that Man is one with his Universe. Those who can join with me in the "Society Of The Universal Man" can join hands with all those Souls who glimpsed the fact that God is not separate from his Universe or separate from Man but that Man is the very expression of God. Therefore we must know that Man and Woman are God expressed individually. . |
