SureWire Web Acceleration compresses web page elements, helping to convert data faster:

With traditional dialup methods, the text and graphics are sent from our servers to your computer via modem and phone line. Because of the large amount of data required to be transferred, this process can be painfully slow. SureWire Web Acceleration will compress this data using a proprietary technology. This compression process will allow smaller amounts of data needing to be transferred - up to six times less - making your online experience that much faster. As an added download time reducer, our web acceleration program will store elements of the web sites frequently visited, eliminating the need to download the data every time the site is visited.

It is intended for broadband connections and does nothing to improve dialup speeds. In an independent study conducted by VeriTest concluded that SureWire Web Acceleration improved performance by as much as 7 times! During our tests, Google was found to essentially slow down the browsing experience over dialup connection speeds by 13 - 28% on average. In one case the slowdown was actually 87% slower. When testing Google's solution on 128Kbps no change was noted. However, our acceleration solution significantly accelerated browsing over all non-DSL connection speeds, even with the original image quality. Google does a good job of describing their web acceleration solution. In summary, the Google Web Accelerator is optimized to speed up web page loading for high-speed broadband and will slow down brosing performance via dialup connections, lower-speed broadband and cellular connections.
